UN: independence is future for Kosovo

t038353a.jpgThe United Nations’ envoy to Kosovo, Martti Ahtisaari, risked the wrath of Serbia by including the word “independence” in his proposals for the breakaway province’s future, presented to the UN Security Council in New York yesterday.

UN Envoy Presents Kosovo Proposal To Secretary-General

ban_ki-moon_portrait.jpgMarch 16, 2007 – The United Nations says Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon (pictured) has received a proposal for the future status of Kosovo. Envoy Martti Ahtisaari forwarded his proposal to the UN chief after Serbia and Kosovo’s ethnic Albanian leaders failed to reach an agreement in negotiations.
